| The Second
Edition of Speech Resources: Exercises and Activities is the
only comprehensive collection of experiential exercises, activities, and
assignments in public speaking designed to assist students in their introduction
to the field and bridge the gap between theory and practice for introductory
and public speaking courses.
The Second Edition has been reduced in size and is offered to students at a significantly lower cost. At the same time, however, the book offers many new exercises, including several with an integrated intercultural approach. There are now more detailed background explanations for each activity so that the text can be used more easily as a supplement to lectures. Clearly stated objectives accompany each exercise. The text eases the job of teaching through its student-oriented. applications approach, which encourages classroom participation and interest. The exercises are short and varied, allowing instructors maximum flexibility in how they use the book. Speech Resources also eases the job of teaching larger classes and helps ensure quality and consistency across sections by standardizing student experience. Each exercise is presented in a consistent format, and space is provided for student answers. The perforated images can be easily removed and handed in, reducing or eliminating the need for costly student hand-outs. Discussion questions aid instruction by serving as a basis for class interaction or can be assigned for students to consider on their own. The revised Instructor's Manual features evaluation forms, making it easier to assess student performance. A comparative matrix enables instructors to integrate the text into their courses with a minimum of effort. The matrix correlates the exercises with the appropriate chapters in twelve of the most commonly used main texts. Table of Contents Chapter I: Initial
